Tour du Mont Blanc North 6-day Itinerary TMB-6N
Highlights
- GO take in the food and culture in three different countries: France, Switzerland and Italy
- GO enjoy breathtaking views and high passes while circling the highest mountain in the Alps, Mont Blanc
- GO enjoy more comfortable accommodation than what is available on most multi-day hiking tours in the Alps
The Tour du Mont Blanc, or TMB Trek as it is also called, is the
most famous hut-to-hut hiking tour in the Alps, and for good reason. The full Tour
du Mont Blanc hike loops around the highest mountain in the Alps, Mont Blanc,
which towers over the surrounding landscape at 4,808 meters above sea level. In
addition to traveling through some of the most spectacular terrain in the Alps,
a full rotation on the Tour du Mont Blanc brings you through France,
Switzerland, and Italy. This itinerary covers the northern section of the Tour du Mont
Blanc, which travels through charming villages and offers more comfortable
accommodation options than the southern half. Both halves are equally stunning.
We love the Tour du Mont Blanc, but it is not for
everybody. This is a very demanding hike with a lot of elevation gain over high
passes. There is also an exposed section of ladders that is not everybody's cup
of tea (this can be bypassed). Thanks to its popularity, the Tour du Mont Blanc
is becoming increasingly crowded and expensive. We do encourage you to take a
look at our other Trekking Tours before deciding for the TMB.

Current Availability
Updated May 27th, 2025
We are still successfully booking Tour du Mont Blanc itineraries for 2025.
We will be able to book the best itineraries for smaller groups (2 or 3 hikers) who provide us with a flexible date range of two weeks or more. If you do not have a flexible date range, then it is important to be flexible with off-trail accommodation or to be able to hike longer and more challenging days.
The best availability is in August, particularly in the first 3 weeks. We can book the best itineraries for customers who provide us with a flexible date range to work with.
Because availability for this tour is currently very limited, we recommend considering some of our other hut-to-hut hiking itineraries that have more availability:
HHT10 Bernese Oberland Traverse - best if private rooms are important to you and/or you want a comfortable alternative to the Tour du Mont Blanc
HHT13 Hut to Hut in Switzerland – best if you want an authentic and comfortable experience, along with delicious local food, such as Appenzeller cheese
HHT2 Culinary Delight Hut Hiking Tour – best if you like food as much as you like hiking
HHT3 Tour des Combins – best if you are experienced and fit, as well as want a challenging and authentic tour with more of a backcountry feel
HHT5 Tour of the Vanoise – best if you want incredible views with as little daily elevation gain and loss as is possible in the Alps (this is the best option if you have bad knees)
