Walker's Haute Route West WHR-6W
Beginning among the shadows of the Mont Blanc Massif, and ending in historical alpine village of Arolla, Switzerland, the self-guided 6-day itinerary of the Western half of the Walker’s Haute Route hike is packed full of dramatic scenery, traditional mountain villages, and high alpine terrain. The western half of the Walker’s Haute Route has big ascents and challenging terrain, including the traverse of the Grand Desert—an intense high-altitude day crossing three high mountain passes, all of them above 2,500 meters. This itinerary is appropriate only for fit hikers who have prior experience with hut-to-hut hiking in the Alps and who are comfortable in challenging terrain.
The Walker's Haute Route is significantly more challenging than the Tour du Mont Blanc. We recommend this tour only for hikers with experience hiking hut to hut in the Alps, and comfort in exposed and challenging alpine terrain.
