Overview

This 13-day Walker’s Haute Route self-guided itinerary covers over 200 km between Chamonix in France and Zermatt in Switzerland and is significantly more difficult than the Tour du Mont Blanc. It is a high-level route designed for fit, experienced hikers with navigation skills and a head for heights, traversing remote Alpine terrain with long days, some exposed sections and passes up to 2,987 m (9,800 ft), but no glacier walking. You hike beneath 4,000 m peaks, including Grand Combin, Dent Blanche, Weisshorn, Dom, and Monte Rosa, staying in mountain huts and quaint towns such as Arolla, and enjoying great food and classic Alpine scenery. Experience the change in culture and language.Starting in  in French regions and finishing in a German-speaking region, You will find this a demanding but truly rewarding trekking tour between Chamonix-to-Zermatt . Trip planning can be tailored with add-ons such as an Airport-to-Airport Package (including airport transfers plus pre- and post-tour accommodation), extra rest days, and luggage transfer along the route for added ease and peace of mind.

A word of caution: The Walker’s Haute Route is often considered the standard follow-up to the Tour du Mont Blanc, but it is significantly more technical, remote and challenging in nature. If challenging alpine terrain and exposure is intimidating to you, then we recommend you consider one of our other incredible Hut to Hut Hiking tours in the Alps.
