Hut to Hut in Switzerland Standard Itinerary HHT13-8S
Highlights
- GO experience an authentic mountain region of Switzerland
- GO enjoy world-famous local cheese and mountain-aged whiskey
- GO enjoy huts with private rooms
This hut-to-hut hike in Switzerland is authentically Swiss,
not only in character but also in flavor. Zig-zagging across picturesque
mountains that are tucked between Zurich and the Rhine River Valley, hikers indulge
in regional specialties, including world-class cheese and exceptional
mountain-aged whiskey unique to each hut. One of the major highlights of
this tour is a visit to the most famous hut in Switzerland, the Aescher Hut. Nestled
into a cliffside, visiting this hut during the morning and evening hours, when the
day visitors are gone, makes it a truly magical experience. The huts along this route are comfortable, many with private rooms available.
Most of the huts do not allow us to book and pay for dinner in advance, but
they do have full restaurants that serve dinner a la carte. This 8-day itinerary is our recommended itinerary with the best
distribution of days. It travels through alpine terrain that has some exposure
(always protected by cables – additional equipment not necessary). We recommend
watching the video and checking out the photos for more information. For hikers
not interested in exposure, our “Light” itineraries cut out this alpine stretch.
We also offer a whiskey-focused itinerary and an itinerary the maximizes
luggage transfer. You can see all of our itineraries for this region here: Hut
